A NOT-SO-LAZY WOMEN’S DAY

I was, somewhat lazily, planning on celebrating Women’s Day with a mere girl power playlist and reading quotes from the pools of messages. I had thought of writing something significant to post, and then again, out of laziness, dropped the idea. That is, until my dad showed me an amazingly emotional and empowering poem a few minutes back.

I was about to check the theme for International Women’s Day this year, in the morning, when I decided upon a very special thought: We should all have our very own theme for Women’s Day. This time, it wasn’t out of laziness though, because I did check the theme later! I decided that my own theme for Women’s Day this year would be: appreciation.

Every day, we see empowered women fighting their way through. We see them make sacrifices so that they can, one day, finally, make choices. Personally, I would like to appreciate my mom. I see mom to be an inspiration for me every day. My mom plays the most important role in making me who I am today, and I can say that I’m a feminist because of her. Moms work hard and they deserve all the appreciation I cannot even express in words.

Quite frankly, my mom smiles ear to ear each time I say that the food is delicious, which is almost every meal.

Also, UN’s theme for today is spectacularly empowering. “Choose To Challenge” is a way to say that you need to challenge certain things if you want a change. A change may be in the society or in anything that’s a hurdle to you. I find it relatable to self-love, in the way that you are beautiful and amazing the way that you are. People may call you names for who you are, and they may hate you for you, but if you are who you want to be, you have at least one person who loves you for your own self.
