It is a common notion nowadays, that since the olden times when women were severely discriminated upon, life has now become quite easy for them. A misconception we are striving for to come true. Yet, despite incessant actions by innumerable men and women, this remans more of a dream than a goal.
My teammates and I are only in high school and many would say that 15 years of life have not so far made us familiar with numerous aspects of the world. Yet, in this short duration, we have witnessed discrimination based on sexual grounds, gender differences etc. Whether it be in the case of small school competitions, the defamation of girls by other classmates, or assault against women in the society.
As difficult as it may be for women today, we owe the current progress in gender equality to the fervent feminists who have, and continue to work towards making this misconception come true
Hey! First of all, kudos for your blog! Secondly, what I infer from this blog of yours is that you wish to say that feminism, or what it has become today, is the root for inequalities. If that’s what you intended, I really connect with your idea for till very recently, I was of the opinion that the more you expose the notion that women are not equal and have to be made equal, the more you fuel inequalities. Ignorance, instead of feminism, can perhaps dislodge the gap between the two genders. If the newer generation is shown a world where there is a struggle for women’s equal rights, it would be inevitably interpreted that women are inferior. If, instead, they are shown a world where this notion is not so highly promulgated, probably they would never be accustomed to the notion of unequal genders. However, I do realise how naive this way of thinking is for such a revolution could only benefit an urban setting, a privileged setting, and not rural, and more conservative settings. The extent and ambit of entrenched and solid discrimination that prevails in other regions eludes the 15-16 year olds from the 1% advanced, modern families in metropolitan cities. Here is where, feminism kicks in and becomes the saviour, or so it intends to atleast! Do let me know if I interpreted your blog the way you wished others to!

Thankyou so much. But no, your perception is extremely different from the notion that built this blog. I’m not saying that you are wrong, but we believe that feminism does not fuel inequalities, instead, it lessens them. After all, feminism is the belief that men and women are equal. It only promotes equality. Ignorance might be bliss, but it does not change anything. Besides, the idea that this article tries to convey is that despite steps taken by fervent feminists, equality cannot be brought about till everyone works for it and accepts it. In no way, are we criticizing feminism and are rather only supporting it.
